What's New at Bear Paw

Playing the Back Nine – Bear Paw Disc Golf Course Opens

July 23, 2009 by Webmaster

After hours of hard work and dedication from generous Scouts and Scouters, we are proud to announce the opening of the the new nine hole disc golf course at Bear Paw. The course is the first in the Bay-Lakes Council and the only course in a Scout camp to be found anywhere in the northwoods.

The nine hole extravaganza starts just south of the Field of Dreams and winds its way through the woods terrain of camp. Holes range from 150 to 210 feet in length and the course carries a plays par three for advanced players or par four for beginners. There are no water hazards (although there is a bog if you really hook one on two) but plenty of trees to keep you honest.

Disc golf at Bear Paw was made possible by the dedication of volunteers and disc golf enthusiasts who spent their time and sweat obtaining donations, planning holes, and clearing brush throughout the spring and early summer. Special thanks to organizations like Crew 9001 who donated money to purchase regulation disc golf holes.

The course is open for play year round and discs are available for checkout during your visit to camp. To get started contact your camp commissioner or campmaster, and have fun on the links!
