Bear Paw Facilities

I want to start a thread here to address issues and concerns about the facilites, how they impact your needs, the needs of the Troops and Packs coming into Camp and how I can fix or change them.

I know we talked about how the leaders can find the Campmaster. We have some signs and Neil has some LED lights that I have attached to the sign post in front of Saffran. I plan to get at least one other sign made up to go by the dining hall and a couple more of those solar lights.

A reminder to all is to turn on the TWO (2) outside lights in the apartment - remember there is one on the side of the building too. I try and get them turned on when I go down to turn the heat up and turn on the hot water heater.

I did get the phone fixed in the apartment. It was the phone itself. When you are the Campmaster, I will turn off the answering machine in the Rangers office, so if someone is trying to call, it will ring and ring till you answer it. The phones in the camp office are not connected, but the emergency phone outside the office on the porch is still hooked up, but it only dials a 9, a 1 and a 0. There are camp phones in the new maintenance building, so if it rings and you are down there, be sure to answer.

Hey, what else...

Almost all of the exterior lights in Camp have photocells on them. I screwed up with the trading post porch lights and do not have one on them. Thought the staff would be smart enough to turn them off in the morning, but that has not been the case.

The maintenance shop is somewhat functional. At least the woodshop is, so if you would like to work on any woodworking projects during your time at Camp, feel free to do so. If you have some ideas for projects in Camp that you would like to work on and ned supplies, please fell free to contact me and we can see what can be done.

Bluebird boxes would be a great weekend project, maybe even getting camping Units to help out...Hmmmm, Woodworking Merit Badge....
