What jobs are available?

There are a wide variety of jobs at camp for individuals with a wide variety of skills. Most jobs involve providing program by instructing basic Scouting skills and/or merit badges. There are program jobs for people with knowledge in Nature, Scoutcraft, Shooting Sports, Aquatics, and all Scout programs that we offer at camp. We also have jobs for support staff who help by, maintaining the camp, providing the meals, and operating the Trading Post. To learn more, download Staff Position Descriptions (pdf format)

Can I pick where I will work?

You can apply to work in any department. During the interview process you will work with the Camp Director to find the job that is best suited for you and that you will enjoy the most.

What are the requirements for applying?

First, all applicants must be 15 years old by June 1, 2011 to work as a member of the 2011 staff. Mostly, applicants must be dedicated, hard working individuals who are willing to work and live according to the Scout Oath and Law. Applicants should enjoy working with boys ages 11-17 and have a love for the outdoors and a willingness to learn.

How long will I be at camp ?

A setup and training week begins one week before camp opens. Staff members attend a week of staff week plus work for the eight weeks that camp is in operation. Each staff member receives a day off between Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon when the Scouts are not in camp. This year's calendar features eight weeks of camp, with Staff Week beginning June 2011.

Where will I live?

You will be provided with a bunk room inside one of Bear Paw's staff quarters, or furnished with a platform wall tent. All staff quarters are provided with electricity.

How much will I get paid?

Each staff member receives free room and board at camp. In addition, many staff members are paid a weekly salary. Camp salaries are dependent upon the amount of knowledge necessary to perform the job and the amount of responsibility entrusted to the employee.

What is a CIT?

The Counselor In Training program is designed to allow mature Scouts the opportunity to work at camp while working on their own advancement toward Eagle. CITs are volunteer staff members who work for a partial term or the entire summer. While on staff CITs are given normal staff responsibilities, but during the course of the day are also given extra time to use camp facilities to work on their own personal advancement.
