Just For Parents

Congratulations, you are sending your son to camp! We thought it would be nice to assemble some information that will help you know more about his experience and how to reach him.

Paying for Camp

Camp Fees change annually and there are installment payments that can save you and your son money. The campership program offers assistance for scouts who otherwise might not get the opportunity.

The camp Trading Post has lots of wonderful Scouting and Bear Paw memorabilia available for its visitors. In Things to Bring to Camp you can find information about the programs and Merit Badges that require money to purchase supplies.

Reaching Camp

You can send mail directly to your son using the address below. Mail to camp is delivered on a daily basis. Be sure to include your son's Troop number and campsite on the envelope. Your Troop leaders should be able to help you with this information

Please keep in mind that we only have one telephone for all of camp and we will only be able to take and deliver messages. Please limit phone use for emergencies. The office number is (715) 276-6167.

Remember...

Medical Forms

To be best aware of each Scout's ability and prepared for any potential situations, each Scout that attends camp must bring a medical evaluation form. The form must be completed accurately and must be signed by a physician. Doctor signatures must be less than 36 months old. In addition, you must complete a health history (located right on the form) and sign. To be valid the parent signature must be less than 12 months old. Please take time to ensure that your son's medical form is correct and current. Health history information is to help us be best prepared in an emergency. Your son will not be excluded from activities without special doctor/parental instruction.

In addition, for each medication a Scout brings to camp he must also bring a medication card signed by his physician. State law requires that medications be stored and monitored by the Camp Health Officer.

For more information, be sure to read, Medical Forms and Medication Cards

Release Authorization Form

For your son's protection, any scouts who leave camp must present a signed Release Authorization Form. This form lists those individuals authorized to escort your son away from camp and on camp sponsored excursions.

What a Scout Should Bring to Camp

Every Scout should bring just enough clothes and equipment to be fully prepared. We have made a special checklist of gear each Scout should bring to Bear Paw.

You should also be aware that there are several things that should not be brought to camp. Alcohol, Tobacco, and Fireworks have no place in Boy Scout Camp and will result in a Scout being sent home. Items such as sheath knives and open toed shoes or sandals are hazardous and should be left home. Please encourage your boys to keep their electronic devices including radios, computer games, and telephones at home as they disrupt the camping experience and serve as a distraction. A little attention will help make every Scout's trip to Bear Paw an enjoyable one.
