Boy Scout Resident Camp was held at Bear Paw from June to August in 2000.

[edit] Camp Expansion, Part 1

The first of the major camp improvements to come from the closing of Camp Rokilio and the subsequent expansion push was the construction of a new Shooting Sports Area in 2000. Trees were cleared and new berms were constructed north of the existing shooting ranges away from the camp road. Thanks to the donations of council Scouters a new shooting range building was constructed with accommodations for two independent 50 foot rifle ranges.

The building featured areas for storage of benches for seated shooting and a block house for year round ammunition and firearm storage with electrical services. The project also included a new archery range with twice the number of stations for shooters, and a new shotgun range. When the new shooting sports ranges went into service in late July, the old berms were leveled and the former range buildings became the home for the Handicraft department.

Taxed by the increasing enrollments and the future intrusions of a dining hall, a replacement for the long-serving Council Fire Circle was put into service in 2000. Ambitious lodge members constructed seating tiers and stairs on the site of the former OA Calling Out Bowl on Chapel Point. Here, two generous fieldstone fire altars frame an incredible hillside view of camp entertainment, backdropped by Bear Paw Lake.
