Boy Scout Resident Camp was held at Bear Paw from 16 June to 3 August in 1996, including a Independence Day break. More than 1,000 Scouts visited camp during the six weeks of summer operations representing troops from around the Bay-Lakes Council and visitors from Ocononmoc.

A small 50th Anniversary celebration was held by the Bay-Lakes Council during the summer of 1996. Former staff members were invited to attend a ceremony that included rededication of the flagpole and the Nicolet Dining Hall.

1996 also saw start of construction of a new Fox Showerhouse. The project was complete for the 1997 summer camp season.
